The Challenge:

How can a university website inspire global action?

The higher education space is hyper-competitive. That means, more than any other category, the first impression is everything.

If your website is boring, chances are, the student experience is too.

As a Jesuit University, Gonzaga’s mission meant everything.

Our goal was to position a Gonzaga degree as a gateway for passionate students to make a big difference in the wider world.

Insight:

In a world where everyone zigs, Zags are the difference.

We made their mission loud and clear.

We built a site that showcased exactly how Gonzaga grads are changing the world.

We aligned student passions with immediate purpose.

We called it The Passion Finder.

It’s a simple user interface that shifted the content conversation.

We stopped asking users, “What do you want to study?”

We started asking, “What do you want to do with your life?”

That simple shift positioned Gonzaga’s programs as doorways to changing the world.

We brought Gonzaga to life in living color.

For students, a vibrant and active student life was way more appealing than teachers in classrooms.

We brought campus life front and center with quick access to event calendars, programs with power, and a vibrant instagram feed.

And highlighted just how far a Gonzaga grad can go.

Lastly, we added an interactive map based on alumni stories from around the globe, showing potential students exactly where a Zag in life can take them.

Results

The website increased application interest for Gonzaga by 174%, while encouraging prospects to explore their passions.

We won 2 awards for the digital experience: The 2018 Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange (MITX) and 2018 AD Club New England Hatch Award.
